We hope this message finds you well. We would like to inform you that on October 18, 2024, the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) approved the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) request to operate the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) in 24 counties affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.
The D-SNAP will be implemented in three phases:
Phase One:
Counties: Columbia, Dixie, Franklin, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor, and Wakulla
Telephonic Applications: October 28 - October 31, 2024
Onsite Applications: November 1 - December 9, 2024
Pre-registration: Opens October 27, 2024
Phase Two:
Counties: Charlotte, Hernando, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota
Telephonic Applications: November 4 - November 8, 2024 (Note: D-SNAP will not operate on November 5, 2024)
Onsite Applications: November 9 - December 3, 2024
Pre-registration: Opens November 3, 2024
Phase Three:
Counties: Citrus, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lee, and Volusia
Telephonic Applications: November 12 - November 15, 2024
Onsite Applications: November 16 - December 15, 2024
Pre-registration: Opens November 11, 2024
Please note that this plan is issued by the USDA, and we are still awaiting further updates from the Department of Children and Families regarding any changes to this timeline.
